The South China tiger is critically endangered and their population dropped as low as under 4,000 individuals in the 1950s. Sadly, by 1996 the population was estimated to be just 30-80 individuals, and is classified by scientists to be “functionally extinct,” because it has not been seen in the wild for more than 25 years.
